Visit to Kazakhstan
On March 26 – April 2, the MGIMO delegation visited the Republic of Kazakhstan, where it held presentation and career guidance events, as well as a series of working meetings with partners. The visit was organized by the University’s International Marketing Group.
The delegation comprised Elizaveta Rudenko, Head of International Marketing, Assistant to the Vice-Rector for Youth Policy, Social Work and International Relations; Yulia Popel, analyst with the Group; Maria Utkina, lecturer at the Department of Comparative Political Science, Deputy Dean of the School of Governance and Politics; Sofia Melnikova, lecturer at the Department of Diplomacy, research fellow at the Institute of International Studies.
On March 27, the first in-person meeting of the “MGIMO International Applicants Club” took place at the Russian Center for Science and Culture in Astana. The University team answered schoolchildren’s questions about admission to MGIMO and conducted several interactive sessions. A special guest of the meeting was MGIMO alumna Madina Kairbekova (IR’25), who shared her experience of studying at MGIMO and her career after graduation.


On March 28–29, the MGIMO delegation took part in the “Study in Russia!” educational exhibition in Astana. University representatives held a series of consultations, informing prospective students about academic programs, admission requirements, and the opportunities available to MGIMO graduates. On March 29, a joint event of MGIMO and the “Astana” Diplomatic Club – the “Future Global Leaders’ Workshop” – was held at the Moscow Business Center in Astana, bringing together over 200 school and university students interested in international relations and diplomacy.



During the visit, the MGIMO delegation met with the representatives of Astana International University, L.N.Gumilyov Eurasian National University, and the Astana Branch of Moscow State University. Maria Utkina delivered a lecture titled “Politics and Artificial Intelligence in the Second Quarter of the 21st Century” at these universities. On March 31, a working meeting was held with Manarbek Kabaziyev, Deputy Director of the Institute of Foreign Policy Research under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The parties discussed possible formats of interaction and agreed on further cooperation in the field of education.


On March 30–31, the International Marketing Group representatives and Sofia Melnikova held presentations of MGIMO and the School of International Relations at the Sadvakasov Capital School, Miras International Private School, and New Generation School in Astana. On March 31 – April 1, Elizaveta Rudenko presented the University at Shoqan Walikhanov School and New Generation School in Almaty. In four out of five schools, MGIMO was presented for the first time.



During the trip, a series of working meetings also took place with representatives of Russian diplomatic missions and consular posts in Kazakhstan and heads of recruitment agencies.
