International Relations

Program «International Relations» provides Russian and international students with necessary skills required for employment in international organizations. The curriculum best serves those students who are willing to become directly involved in politics, government or political organizations. Courses are designed to help graduates embrace their role as global citizens who are able and willing to be part of an international, multicultural environment. The program provides students with profound knowledge about contemporary politics, international diplomacy, governmental and legal systems, economics and international relations and security with focus on Russia.

The curriculum of the program «International Relations» consists of core disciplines and elective courses. That allows each student to make an individual schedule appropriate to his professional interests and personal inclinations.

The work is divided among lectures, seminars and workshops based on field research, participation by visiting experts, and group reports. For successful graduation, students need to pass final exams and defend the Master’s thesis.

Admission process:

  • Candidates should initially apply for the MGIMO master’s degree (via the Mater’s Degree Online Application Form) and indicate their preference in the application form.
  • Applicants must have a bachelor’s degree or equivalent, relevant to the chosen field of study.
  • All courses are taught in English.
  • At least some command of Russian is recommended but not required. Students from countries other than Russia will attend courses in the Russian language — 6 academic hours per week in MGIMO.
  • If candidates’ command of Russian is adequate, during the M.A. academic year they can select additional courses from the courses available to the Russian students of Master’s Program in International Relations and Political Science taught in Russian in MGIMO.
  • The admission to the program is carried on the basis of student’s portfolio that should be sent to masters@inno.mgimo.ru.

The Global Order: Transformations and Challenges

The Double Degree Master’s Program of MGIMO and Lomonosov Moscow State University (MSU).

The program provides for the scientific advances in research in the sphere of international relations and foreign policy, modern theories, and methods of global politics research.

Graduates obtain MSU and MGIMO degrees.

Post-Soviet Public Policy

The Double Degree Master’s Program of MGIMO and Lomonosov Moscow State University (MSU).

The program provides an effective synthesis of advanced programs of leading Western universities in the study of public policy and effective skills’ development for applied analysis of Russian and Eurasian political processes.

Political Economy of ASEAN-Russia Strategic Partnership

The program is designed to provide students with an in-depth understanding of the economic and political-economic aspects of Russia-ASEAN relations, regional integration processes, the current state and future prospects of these relations, taking into account global and regional economic and political dynamics, modern legal aspects, and technological transformations.

The program builds logically on the existing collaboration between MGIMO and ASEAN countries through the projects of the ASEAN Centre.

Admission process:

In order to be eligible for the admissions process, applicants must have a bachelor`s degree or equivalent, relevant to the chosen field of study.

A basic command of Russian is recommended but not required.

Admissions are carried out on the basis of students’ portfolio evaluation and professional interview.

International Economy and Finance

The program is offered by the School of International Economic Relations.

The program aims to train economists specializing in international economic relations, with expertise in the global financial market and corporate finance.
